JetBlue Airways announced their plans to open a second destination for non-stop flights to Costa Rica on Thursday. The airline will now offer direct flights to Liberia out of New York's JFK airport, and Liberia, Costa Rica's Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport beginning November 17, 2011.

"We're delighted to be adding Liberia to our growing list of destinations and giving our customers access to the breathtaking Guanacaste beaches and natural parks," said Chad Meyerson, the director of global sales for JetBlue. "Costa Rica and its people have much to offer and have been a great partner since we started flying to San Jose more than two years ago. We're happy to be able to strengthen that relationship today while expanding our footprint in Central America."

Costa Rica's Minister of Tourism, Allan Flores, was also pleased with the airline’s newest addition. "We are overjoyed that JetBlue has added Liberia to its list of destinations giving U.S. travelers even greater access to Costa Rica. This new route will allow U.S. travelers to have unprecedented access to Costa Rica’s Northwestern region rich with so many tourist offerings, particularly during the high season months."
