I have found a very simple and easy method to install Windows 7 through USB or flash drive. There are advantages of installing Windows 7 through USB drive as it will actually install much faster than installing from DVD, you can install Windows 7 on system which do not have DVD or CD drive such as netbooks, it is easier to carry windows 7 USB instead of DVD.
· Windows 7 image (.iso format)
· Daemon Tools (or any other image mounting software but I prefer daemon tools)
I wrote simple steps to follow for the installation of windows & through USB but these methods works only on windows 7. Steps to follow:
1. Put a 4 Gb or bigger USB in USB port.
2. Go to Start – All Programs – Accessories – Command Prompt
3. Right click on command prompt and select “Run as administrator“
4. The black window of command prompt opens up showing C:\Windows\system32>
5. Write “Diskpart” in front of C:\Windows\system32>
6. Diskpart opens in the same window: DISKPART>
7. Type list disk and press Enter
8. It will show your harddisk and usb device. Check the number of your usb device, usually it is Disk 1
9. Type “select disk 1” and press Enter, Disk 1(which is usb disk) is now the selected disk.
10. Type “clean” and press Enter. If this command doesn’t work then type “clean all” and press Enter and wait for some time till this message appears: “DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk”
11. Type “create partition primary” and press Enter. This message appears “DiskPart succeeded in creating the specified partition”
12. Type “active” and press Enter. This message appears “DiskPart marked the current partition as active”
13. Type “format fs=fat32 quick” and press Enter and wait for a minute till 100% formatting completing
14. Type “assign” and press Enter
15. Type “exit” and press Enter
Now you are done with command prompt. Now mount the .iso image of windows seven you have using Daemon Tools. Daemon Tools will create a separate drive of windows seven. Open that drive containing windows seven, the drive that daemon tools made. Copy all the files from windows seven drive and paste it in the USB you just made via command prompt.
Now restart the system, go in to BIOS of your system and enable USB Boot option, save and exit. The computer restarts and asks to press any key to boot, press any key and you are in to the setup of windows seven. Install windows seven from there.
