Chord Overstreet Will Not Return to Glee Again

Chord Overstreet, who joined Glee last season as recurring guest star and transfer student Sam Evans, will not be a series regular for season three, The doe-eyed, blond-haired series regular has not been picked up for another season, according to reports Friday night.

Fox representatives were not immediately available for comment on the matter, but the Tennessee-born actor sent a tweet late Friday night seemingly about the development. It said: "It's been a good year. Too bad it's over. Time for summer and starting fresh."

The casting news comes a few weeks after an interview with showrunner Ryan Murphy revealed that many of the Fox hit's major characters will graduate high school next year and may be written out of the program.

"We didn't want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years," Murphy said. "We really wanted it to be true to that experience. We thought it would be really cool if we were true to the timeline."

Overstreet, whose father is country music songwriter Paul Overstreet, tweeted yesterday that with "Glee" mostly behind him, he would get started on projects of his own. He writes: "getting close to the end of the tour, can't wait to start working on my album when i get home!!! im gonna go full on!"
